Telehealth Services

Telehealth services through Inner West Paediatrics

At Inner West Paediatrics we are able to offer ongoing services either face-to-face (in clinic, school and childcare) and also offer Telehealth services via the Zoom and Coviu platforms. These services allow for skills from therapy sessions to be generalised in your home environment.

What does this look like?

In an online appointment, your therapist will send you a link to your nominated email address. By clicking on this link using either your computer, tablet or phone you and your child will be able to access your appointment.

During your appointment your therapist will provide intervention, much in the same way you currently receive in person. If your child is school aged, therapy may involve sharing of books, reading texts, tracing, drawing pictures, figures and writing. Most of our usual activities and tasks can be adapted for telehealth and you will receive a packet from your therapist with printables if required. If you do not have access to a printer please let us know as soon as possible when booking in a telehealth session.

If your child is younger, sessions will focus upon parent-based education and consultation, and you will be coached as the parent using items you own around the home to deliver therapy to your child. Programs such as More Than Words can be delivered using this platform also.

What can Occupational Therapy help with?

Occupational therapy can help with a wide range of issues, such as difficulty with fine motor skills, coordination, and self-care tasks, as well as difficulties with social skills, emotional regulation, and attention.

The 5 key reasons why you should consider occupational therapy for your child

Improve fine motor skills
Occupational therapy can help your child improve their ability to use their hands and fingers for tasks such as writing, cutting, and buttoning.

Enhance coordination and balance
Occupational therapy can help your child improve their balance and coordination, which can be beneficial for activities such as sports and other physical activities.

Increase independence with self-care tasks
Occupational therapy can help your child develop the skills they need to be independent with tasks such as dressing, eating, and personal hygiene.

Enhance social and emotional skills
Occupational therapy can help your child develop the skills they need to interact with others, such as turn-taking, sharing, and problem-solving.

Boost self-confidence
Occupational therapy can help your child feel more confident in their abilities, which can have a positive impact on their overall self-esteem.
