Rachael is a Speech Pathologist with a particular interest in early language development, social communication, paediatric feeding and stuttering.
She holds a Bachelor of Medical Science and a Master of Speech Pathology from the University of Technology Sydney and is certified in the Hanen More Than Words® program.
Rachael has experience working with children across a range of areas, including early communication and language, speech sounds, literacy, stuttering and AAC. She enjoys working closely with families and helping them find practical ways to support their child’s communication during everyday routines and activities.
Rachael particularly enjoys getting to know each child and finding out what interests and motivates them. She uses this to shape her sessions and make therapy engaging and relevant to the individual child.
Her Hanen training has also strengthened her interest in parent coaching and supporting communication outside of therapy sessions. Rachael enjoys working with parents, educators and other members of a child’s team so that strategies can be used in the places where children spend their time.
Rachael chose Speech Pathology because of her interest in communication, language and child development. She enjoys the variety of the role and the opportunity to work closely with children and their families over time.
For Rachael, one of the best parts of the job is seeing a child become more confident in communicating and being able to celebrate that progress with their family.
