Jan

Occupational Therapist

He/Him

Jan is an experienced Paediatric Occupational Therapist who is passionate about supporting children and young people to build confidence, develop their skills and participate in the everyday activities that are meaningful to them.

In his 6th year of experience working with children and young people, Jan has supported a diverse range of children across clinic, school and community settings. He has experience working alongside children with different sensory preferences and processing styles, neurodivergence, motor development differences and trauma backgrounds, and enjoys getting to know each child’s individual strengths, interests and goals.

Jan has a particular clinical interest in fine and gross motor development, play, postural control, strength and coordination. Movement is often a big part of Jan’s therapy sessions, and he enjoys finding creative ways to incorporate active play and the outdoors into therapy.

Jan values working collaboratively with the important people in a child’s life. He enjoys partnering with parents, caregivers, educators and other members of a child’s support team to understand what is important to the child and family, and to develop practical strategies that can be embedded into everyday routines and environments.

For Jan, one of the most rewarding parts of being an Occupational Therapist is seeing the difference that growing confidence and skills can make to a child’s participation. He loves celebrating progress alongside children and their families – whether that is developing a new skill, feeling more confident trying something challenging, connecting with peers or participating more independently in everyday activities. Jan’s approach is playful, collaborative and strengths-based, with a focus on helping children feel confident in who they are while developing the skills and supports they need to participate in the things that matter to them.

Outside of work, Jan enjoys spending time outdoors and brings his own love of movement and being active into his work with children.
