Online Speech Therapy for Kids

Help your child find their voice

Your child deserves to communicate confidently and authentically in the way that is meaningful to them. All forms of communication are valid including speech, AAC, sign, gestures, body language and other non-speaking forms of communication.

We understand that sometimes, getting to a clinic isn’t always possible.

At Inner West Paediatrics, we offer online speech therapy so your child can get the support they need, wherever they are. From assessment to diagnosis and treatment options, we help children build skills that support communication and participation in everyday life.

How a speech pathologist can help

Telehealth speech pathology draws on a range of techniques to support children with speech, language, communication, voice, and fluency. Here’s how our team may help:

  • Speech sounds: Helping your child say sounds and words more clearly so they can communicate with confidence.
  • Receptive and expressive language: Helping your child understand and process information and express themselves with confidence.
  • Literacy skills: Working with your child to help build reading, writing, and spelling skills that set them up for life.
  • Social communication: Helping your child develop the skills needed to participate in conversations and interact with others.
  • Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC): Assessing and supporting the use of communication systems and devices that help your child communicate in ways that work best for them.
  • Feeding therapy: Supporting children with eating, drinking and swallowing difficulties through family-centred strategies that promote positive mealtime experiences
  • Stuttering: Supporting children who stutter to communicate more confidently using evidence-based approaches tailored to their individual strengths

AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) focuses on helping children communicate beyond spoken words. This may mean using sign, picture boards, speech-generating devices, and communication apps.

To access telehealth, your child will need a laptop, desktop, or tablet; most of these devices come with built-in cameras, microphones, and speakers.

A stable internet connection is also needed, and headphones are recommended. If you don’t have access to a device at home, your child’s school may be able to help.

Alternatively, we can also offer support over the phone if internet reception is a barrier to receiving support.

At Inner West Paediatrics, we work hard to match your child with a therapist who’s the right fit. We are focused on strong continuity of care, meaning your child works with someone who genuinely gets to know them over time, and, if you don’t feel like it is a fit – we want to hear from you to make it right!
